We are neither Five-Point Calvinists, nor are we Arminians. We adhere firmly to the biblical teaching of God's sovereignty and man's responsibility. We avoid any theological systems of belief that go beyond the written Word and thereby divide the body of Christ.

Cornerstone Church stands in the line of historic Christianity. Our Statement of Basic Belief is comprised of core, orthodox Christian beliefs. To be a covenant member of Cornerstone Church, these essential beliefs must be affirmed to remain as a member in good standing with the church.

We believe the gift of tongues is a spiritual gift that may be used for cross-cultural evangelism (Acts 2:1-11), private prayer (1 Corinthians 14:3, 14-19, 28), or for ministry to the body when an interpreter is present (1 Corinthians 14:5). We do not believe everyone must speak in tongues (1 Corinthians 12:30).

We Believe: In one God, the Creator of all things who is infinitely perfect and exists eternally in three persons – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Each member of the Trinity is equally God and has divine attributes. We Believe: No one is like God, no one is equal to God and there are no other gods.

Calvinism differs from Christianity in its emphasis on predestination, total depravity, God's sovereignty, and the perseverance of the saints. These beliefs form the core of Reformed theology and distinguish Calvinism from other Christian traditions.

Most Methodists teach that Jesus Christ, the Son of God, died for all of humanity and that salvation is achievable for all. This is the Arminian doctrine, as opposed to the Calvinist (Reformed) position that God has pre-ordained the salvation of a select group of people.
